Whenever a new athlete account is created, CoachIQ automatically sends them an email to set their password. This is a normal, expected part of first-time account activation, not a sign that anything has gone wrong with your account or theirs.

When this email is sent

The email fires automatically the first time an athlete’s account is created, whether that happens because:
  • You add them manually from PeopleNew User
  • They self-register by creating an account on your website or Athlete Portal
  • They’re created as part of a purchase or booking during checkout
In every case, CoachIQ needs the athlete to set a password before they can log in, so it sends them a link to do that right away.

Why it looks like a password reset

The set-password email uses the same template as a password reset email, since both accomplish the same thing: letting someone create or update their password through a secure link. There’s no separate “welcome” version of this email today. This is why a coach or athlete who wasn’t expecting it can mistake it for a sign that an account was compromised. It isn’t; it’s simply how every new account gets activated.

Common questions

Yes. This is expected for every new account, whether you added the athlete or they signed up themselves. It’s how CoachIQ prompts them to set their initial password, not a sign that their account or yours has been accessed by anyone else.
No. This email is sent automatically as part of normal account creation. It isn’t triggered by a login attempt, a security event, or anyone requesting a reset on an existing account.
Every new account gets it, regardless of how it was created; manually by you, through self-registration, or during a purchase or booking.
Have them check their spam folder first. If it’s still missing, you can resend an invite from their profile in People. See Helping Athletes with Login Issues for more troubleshooting steps.
Not currently; the set-password email uses the same template as a password reset. If this comes up often with your athletes, let your CoachIQ contact know.
