How to Create a Stripe Account

In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to create a Stripe account for an individual. This will enable you to start accepting payments through the CoachIQ platform.

Step 1: Visit the Stripe Website

  1. Open your browser and search for "Stripe" on Google.

  2. Once on the Stripe homepage, you can explore their services, but to get started quickly, scroll down and click on Start Now.

Step 2: Sign Up for Stripe

  1. You will be directed to the sign-up page. Here, enter your:

    • Email

    • Full Name

    • Country

    • Password

  2. After entering the required information, click on Create Account.

Step 3: Verify Your Email

  1. After creating your account, Stripe will send a verification email to the address you provided.

  2. Open the email and click on the Verify Email Address link.

Step 4: Activate Payments

  1. Once your email is verified, you'll be directed to your Stripe dashboard.

  2. Click on Activate Payments to start the process of setting up your account for accepting payments.

Step 5: Enter Your Business Information

  1. Location & Business Type: Select your business location and type (e.g., individual/sole trader).

  2. Personal Details: Enter your legal name, email address, date of birth, and home address.

  3. Business Details: Enter additional information about your business, such as:

    • VAT Number (optional)

    • Industry: Choose the industry closest to your business type.

    • Business Website: If you don’t have a website, you can link to a relevant social media page or project.

    • Fulfillment Details: Provide an estimate for how you fulfill orders (e.g., digital products delivered within one day).

  4. Statement Descriptor: Enter a short description that will appear on your customers' bank statements (e.g., "Knowledge Base").

    • Shortened Descriptor: You may enter an abbreviated version (e.g., "YT" for YouTube).

Step 6: Connect Your Bank Account

  1. Select your currency and country.

  2. Enter your bank’s Sort Code and Account Number.

  3. Confirm your account number, which you can find on any bank statement or through online banking.

Step 7: Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

  1. For added security, set up two-factor authentication (2FA). You can choose to use:

    • Authenticator App

    • SMS

  2. If using an authenticator app, scan the provided QR code and enter the code generated by the app.

Step 8: VAT Calculations

  1. If you are not liable for VAT, simply click No Thanks to skip this step.

  2. If you do pay VAT, fill in the necessary details.

Step 9: Review and Submit

  1. Review all the information you have entered.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Agree and Submit.

  3. You will then be redirected to your Stripe dashboard, where you can start accepting payments.
